Plateau Pre and Post Emergent Weed Killer Herbicide - 1 Gallon EPA Reg No 241-365

4 reviews
Usually Ships in 1-2 days
Plateau herbicide works during pre- and post-emergence, killing common weeds and grasses along roadsides. It targets tall, invasive grasses such as fescue and smooth bromegrass, keeping noncrop areas free of weed growth. When it's used during the fall, Plateau herbicide helps to control cheatgrass, a major source of wildfires in the West. It has an active ingredient for eradicating noxious weed species and providing long-term suppression. If other weed killers can't do the job, reach for Plateau herbicide from BASF.

How Plateau Herbicide Works

Containing imazapic as the primary ingredient, Plateau is used as a pre- and post-emergent herbicide for the control of broadleaf weeds and annual and perennial grasses. Once it's sprayed onto the weed, the chemical agent quickly translocates throughout the plant, including any edible portions such as seeds and leaves. Therefore, you should never use Plateau on food crops. It destroys the weed from the inside and suppresses growth in the target area.

Where to Use Plateau Herbicide

For the control and suppression of weeds and turf height, Plateau provides superior results when it's used as directed. It's labeled for use in noncrop lands, ditch banks, prairie sites and nonresidential turf. It keeps weeds controlled on petroleum tank farms, utility plant sites and highway rights of way. You can also use Plateau in grassy areas on golf courses, airports and recreational sites. However, it is not labeled for use on residential lawns.

Target Weeds

Plateau herbicide controls the toughest and most noxious weed species in noncrop areas, such as cheatgrass and tall fescue. It also controls Bahia grass, leafy spurge and bindweed on roadsides and industrial turf. Use Plateau herbicide to kill and control:

  • Johnsongrass
  • Medusahead
  • Sandbur
  • Vaseygrass
  • Houndstongue

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • How long after application as a pre- emergent may Plateau tolerant wildflowers and grasses be seeded?

Plateau is a selective herbicide in that, some plants are tolerant of a pre- and/or post-emergent application (most WSGs and some forbs/wildflowers). Some forbs/wildflowers seed sources will refer to species as “Plateau tolerant,” in fact, that truly indicates that they are tolerant of the imazapic the active ingredient. Perenial Wildflowers, Legumes and Short Grasses toloerant to Plateau Herbicdes include: sideoats grama, shasta daisy, upright prairie coneflower, blue grama, purple prairieclover, leadplant, buffalograss, Illinois bundleflower, bicolor Lespedeza, black-eyed susan, gold yarrow, mexican hat, partridgepea, lupine, ox-eye daisy, purple coneflower, sensitive vine, and wild violet. IF the wildflowers and grasses are not Plateau Tolerant then you will need to wait 4 to 6 weeks to be on the safe side

  • Does this herbicide come in granular form as well?

    Unfortunately It does not. Sorry

  • I have a Japanese Stiltgrass infestation in a big bed of English Ivy here in Virginia. I would like to find a product that will control the Stiltgrass (preemergent and maybe even post emergent) but will NOT harm the Ivy. Any suggestions?

Pendulum will control the stilt grass as a pre-emergent. Two applications one early in the year and the second in early June will give best control. There isn’t a good post-emergent that will not harm the ivy. Most recommendations are for either a glyphosate or product like Cheetah Pro. Either would harm the ivy. Ornemec can be used as a post-emergent in landscape beds but will take a couple applications for control.

  • What is the coverage per gallon?

    Hello Sir
Please see the Plateau Herbicide Label from the link below to answer your specific questions. Coverage rates will depend on the type of application

  • WILL IT KILL MARESTAIL IN WILDFLOWERS?

Without knowing what wildflowers are present we cannot determine how much damage may occur. It will control the desired weeds but the damage ma be significant.

  • Will this kill English ivy?

This would not be the best choice it would give us control but it may not be complete depending on the level of infestation. Better choices would be either Cornerstone 5 Plus or Garlon Ultra.

  • We use this in our Association and get many calls asking if this is safe for animals? Thank you!

After 24 hours it is pet safe

    Plateau vs grassburs

I buy Plateau specifically to combat grassburs in my coastal pastures. It works - when applied per label instructions - adequate rainfall, 3-leaf emergence of grassbur plants, mixed correctly, it is very effective. I use only graze-safe products that my horses can be grazing while I spray. It is a superb product.

I use Plateau on my native grasses that have wildflowers. It works great at eliminating invasive weeds while not harming the wildflowers.
