How Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait Insecticide Works

Extinguish Plus fire ant bait insecticide contains both hydramethylnon and S-methoprene as the active ingredients. Hydramethylnon is used in most bait granulars and gels as an effective chemical for interrupting an ant's metabolic system. It affects the ant's ability to perform important functions such as feeding while making it lethargic and immobile. S-methoprene is an insect growth regulator that sterilizes the queen ant and prevents the colony from rebounding after treatment.

Where to Use Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait Insecticide

Use Extinguish Plus Fire Ant Bait Insecticide as a powerful option to kill unwanted fire ants on residential lawns and commercial property. It's approved for both indoor and outdoor use and provides long-lasting control thanks to its combined ingredients. Though it works on many sites, do not use Extinguish Plus on lawns or sod clippings that are intended for grazing livestock. Other target areas for use include:

  • Athletic fields
  • Container and nursery stock
  • Golf courses
  • Pastures
  • Rangelands
  • Recreational areas
  • School grounds
  • Sod farms

Target Pests

Extinguish Plus fire ant bait insecticide kills and controls more than just imported and native fire ants. It's also useful for eliminating and preventing harvester ant infestations. Use Extinguish Plus for removing big-headed and Argentine ant colonies both indoors and outdoors.

Extinguish Plus Kills Native Fire Ants

With two main ingredients, Extinguish Plus not only targets and kills ants but also prevents rebound and further infestations. It knocks out the workers and sterilizes the queen, destroying the colony from within. It takes between 24 and 72 hours to see results and continues to work long after an application.
