How Habitat Aquatic Herbicide Works

Habitat Aquatic herbicide contains imazapyr and affects weed growth in 10 hours. The plant absorbs the active ingredient and translocates it throughout the leaves, the stems and the roots. It causes necrosis in the plant in which the living cells and tissue die. The unwanted vegetation dies within one or two weeks, resulting in clearer, more aesthetically pleasing shorelines. It also clears out submerged vegetation and stops weeds from overtaking beneficial plant life.

Where to Use Habitat Aquatic Herbicide

Apply Habitat herbicide in places where aquatic vegetation has overtaken other plants and caused unsightly shorelines. It's perfect for use in streams, ponds and lakes, including bays and swamps. Habitat is also useful for killing weeds in:

  • Canals
  • Drainage ditches
  • Marinas
  • Reservoirs
  • Rivers
  • Seasonal wetlands

Target Weeds

After one application, the treated weeds stop growing within one to three days. As they die, they drop to the ground and decompose naturally in the environment. In addition, Habitat uses less active ingredients than similar herbicides, which makes it environmentally friendly to plants and animals. Some of the target vegetation include:

  • Alligatorweed
  • Cattail
  • Duckweed
  • Grass family
  • Pennywort
  • Phragmites
  • Swamp rose
  • Torpedograss
  • Water lilly
  • Water willow

Advantages of Habitat Aquatic Herbicide

  • It circulates throughout the plant, killing it from the top to the bottom.
  • It's effective against broadleaf weeds, brush and aquatic vegetation.
  • It's safe for fish, mammals and birds.
  • It breaks down quickly in the environment.
  • It causes full plant death within two weeks.

How to Apply Habitat Herbicide

Use a low-volume applicator to spray Habitat on unwanted plants around bodies of water. A low-volume spray targets the weeds on the spot and provides greater control, as well as reduces the chance of off-target impact. Make sure to apply Habitat with a spray adjuvant for more effective results.

Control Aquatic Vegetation With Habitat Herbicide

Kill invasive weeds and brush in ponds, rivers and more with Habitat Aquatic herbicide. Although it contains less of the active ingredient than similar herbicides, it works more effectively and doesn't cause harm to aquatic life, birds or animals. Habitat breaks down quickly in the environment, making it safe to use in and around reservoirs. It provides shoots-to-roots weed control and targets numerous aquatic plants. Whether it's a problem with cattails or other invasive vegetation, use Habitat herbicide to clear the nuisance weeds with total accuracy and efficiency.
